If you want to run your own station on the streamer network the first thing you will need is the appropriate software.

Ok , so you have the software downloaded now you need to Install it.

Install streamerp2p first , then install winamp , and then install the Oddcast/Edcast dsp plugin.

Once that is done we are ready to start the configuration process.

 

Step 1

The Image you see on the right is the default window that will open when you first run streamer.

Along the top of the streamer window you will notice there are several buttons.

In order to configure our broadcasting options we need to click this button on the streamer window (top far right)

Step 2

As you can see there is now more information and buttons shown on the right hand side of the streamer window.

Next you need to click the button to open the broadcast configuration window

Step 3

First we need to click New ID.

Then enter the name of your station and click Apply.

As we are using ogg in this guide you will need to set the estimated bitrate , set this to 80 for now , we can adjust this later if need be.

Information you enter here will be used on the Streamer Yp Page ( The List of Stations )

Enter your web site address if you have one

Enter the Url of the image you would like used as your station icon

Maximum icon size is 150 x 75 pixels, Maximum icon file size is 25k

Click OK

Here you can enter some html based information about your station , this will show in streamer when users click the View button.

We will cover how to use this later on in the guide.

Step 4

Next click on the sources tab

In the majority of setups you will be accepting source from lan ips only

so tick that box

and set a password you will remember and click OK

Next we need to prepare winamp and the oddsock encoder plugin to work with streamer.

Step 1

Load winamp and press Ctrl+P on the keyboard

This will display the preferences window.

Select the edcast dsp plugin from the list and click close

Step 2

If all went well in step 1 you should now be able to see the Edcast dsp plugin on your desktop.

Click the Add Encoder Button.

You will see a new entry appear in the encoder window , right click this entry and select configure.

Step 3

Next set the following

Quality setting is 0

Sample rate is set to 44100

Channels is set to 2

Encoder type is OggVorbis

Server ip is LocalHost

Server type is Icecast 2

Server port is 8000

Enter the same password you used in the streamerp2p config

All other settings remain the same

Then click the OK button to finish

Ok so what's left to do.

Well not a lot really , open streamerp2p ,add some tracks to the winamp play list and click play in winamp.

Click connect on the edcast window and that's it you should be broadcasting.
